First Christmas

New Mexico 2009.
She certainly enjoyed her visit to New Mexico; spending it with her Grandparents (Derek's parents), Great Grandmother, Aunts Kristina, Anne, and Uncle Jon. She learned to crawl up and down stairs, walk with one hand assistance, and clap and bounce on command. Whew, that's a lot in 6 days.

She was showered with gifts of toys and books. She says "DA"! meaning, Thank You.

Feeling Better

Oh no, did i just jinx her? After being sick for a long time, she's finally feeling better and back to her playful self. She said her first word too! "Nana" for banana. She can say "mama" and "dada" but they have no meaning for her yet. But, "nana", that's a banana!

Group Photo

An attempt at a group photo of the children in Sonoma doesn't go super smoothly.

Got Milk?

Actually, it's yogurt. Still, it's a dairy product mustache.

To Northern California We Go!

10 day trip! We started in Petaluma, near Sonoma, where we met up with our friends. There will be a video. Penelope met some new friends, went
wine tasting, and got to crawl around a very large house.

We headed out to our second destination, Point Reyes National Seashore. Pen took her longest hike here; 4.6 miles! Really, she endured us taking the hike while she enjoyed the ride. The following day, we tried to see the lighthouse but there was too much fog, but on a different hike she got to see a large group of deer and hear elephant seals blurb.

Our last destination was in San Francisco, but before we arrived there we took a short hike in the Muir Woods National Monument. It was crazy packed with people despite it being a Friday during the middle of the day. We finally arrived at the Omni Hotel in San Fransisco. Penelope's PoPo (Grandma) and Goong Goong (Grandpa) and her uncle Warren were there to meet us. This was the first time Goong Goong and Penelope met.

Her grandparents were nice enough to come all the way from LA to babysit Penelope so we could celebrate the marriage of Erin and Anthony. They had a beautiful ceremony and Penelope was so excited for her Godmother Erin she gabbled during the vows. We stayed an additional day in SF, but her grandparents were gone. That means we went to bed when Penelope went down for the day, around 7:30 pm. We had thought it would be hard to fall asleep so early, but since it was the night after staying up late for the wedding reception, we fell asleep instantly.

Penelope was a great traveler. On our flight home, she fed during take off, fell asleep and fed during our decent. What?! Yes, she slept the whole flight back home! We really hope this is an indication of many trips to come.

Stripes

She loves to crawl around with something in her mouth.

Let me explain. Derek had put her in an orange onesie but she peed on it while I was changing her diaper. I grabbed the first thing that touched my hand. Don't call "What Not to Wear".

Tadpole

Here she is ready for her swimming class.
Water is 82 degrees, but she still clings to Derek for warmth.

Sand

We celebrated the beginning of Fall by going to the beach.

She didn't cry touching the sand this time; although she seemed really scared.
Before we got into the car, I promptly washed her feet using a sports bottle.

She Crawls

She's been crawling for nearly 2 weeks now, getting better everyday.

UW Study

In our spare time, Pen puts on an eeg cap so people at UW can monitor her brain waves.

Scoots

What is the true definition of crawling? I believe it is moving on hands and knees. Derek likes to think Penelope is currently crawling, but I don't think she is. Is she moving? Yes. Is she moving on hands and knees? No. She is moving on hands and knee. Notices how "knee" is singular. She scoots.
